During this comedic drama, cast your bid for bras and the memories that come with them. The Golden Spike

by Don Nguyen & The Lobbyists

BRIClab Residency

The Golden Spike borrows elements of the Monkey King legend to tell an epic love story of Sun Wu and Jiao Zhou spanning 13 years, from the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad to the passing of the Chinese Exclusion Act. Sun Wu, a Chinese railroad worker pursuing equal rights for his fellow laborers, finds himself caught in the machinations of America’s largest infrastructure project. While his head is steadily focused on negotiating fair working conditions for him and his fellow workers, his heart yearns for a young Chinese laundress. weaving strong emotional narratives of Chinese and Irish immigrants, and driven by a rocking folk-roots score from NY-based theater collective & band The Lobbyists, The Golden Spike explores the pursuit of love, family, truth, and the sparkling light of equality under the otherwise dark shadow of America’s history.

Scarlet Night

Install Director: Margaret Lee

Install Choreographer: Becca Robinson

Scarlet Night is Virgin Voyages’ signature immersive entertainment night across the entire fleet. Each ship’s full entertainment cast comes together on every sea voyage to perform across three decks of the ship simultaneously, before a high-energy finale in the pool under the stars. As Install Director, I adjust and continually develop the original creative concept to best fit the different entertainment casts, and direct the opening cast when a new ship launches, creating the blueprint for each additional cast.

Moxie Commission

The Moxie Commission was a program built to create and launch new plays written by and about women+ which are specifically crafted for virtual performance. Moxie Arts NY commissioned three playwrights - Marissa Joyce Stamps, Jessica Wu, and Uma Paranjpe - for the inaugural year of this program. Each writer created three one-act scripts conceived for digital performance, which were then fully produced, filmed, and edited for presentation. The commission’s directing cohort included Kathleen Capdesuner, Margaret Lee, Shannon Davis and Leigh Rondon-Davis.
